When it breaks, the candy showers on everyone who hit it, split by how many times they swung. Then a bigger piñata drops in.

The split
More hits, more candy.
Your share of the prize is your hits divided by all the hits on that piñata. Landing the last swing earns nothing extra. The breaker gets the same rate as everyone else.
